Breaking News: Assassination attempt against Trump
The Left's attempts on Justice Kavanaugh and Rep. Scalise failed. But they're persistent.
Most of you will already know this, but within the last two hours, an assassination attempt was made against Donald Trump. I expect all of you know that similar attempts were made against Justice Kavanaugh (the would-be assassin never got off a shot) and Republican Rep. Steve Scalise (he nearly died but eventually recovered, albeit with lingering serious injuries).
I expect there will be furious attempts to pin the blame for today’s attempted murder on everyone and everything but the person who did it and the reasons underlying his act. There will be some attempts to blame Trump himself (a divisive, incendiary figure, dontcha know), insufficient gun control (that will come off the word processor), the degrading of political debate Trump has created, etc. Following shortly on the heels of this will be the usual stuff about ”wingnut conspiracy theorists” and “avoiding a rush to judgment” and “what about Charlottesville!” We all know the routine by now.
I’m wondering if anyone will ask whether any blame goes to this remarkably vicious and bitter speech less than a day ago by Joe Biden. From MSM.com (not Fox, if that makes a difference):
Trump raped her: Biden goes all out against former President.
President Joe Biden delivered one of the more forceful addresses of his campaign on Friday amid serious concerns members of his own party have about his candidacy.
“Forceful” — well, yes, that’s one word for it. “Hateful” would be more accurate. And purebred hate, not disagreement and not policy differences, has been the driving force of the campaign against Trump since forever. The Left will deny it, but everyone reading this has seen it time and again and knows it’s not merely true, but not subject to denial by serious people. It’s been wall-to-wall hate, and hate has consequences (as the Left knows when convenient and ignores when, as now, even more convenient).
In coming days, a very, very few on the Left might admit it; it will be interesting to see how many do and how honest they are about it. By far most will deny it and try to go on offense — “He’s a threat to democracy; he brought it on himself; violence is never acceptable but what can you expect with a man who’s done his best to destroy the foundations of our country,” etc. etc.
Later in his speech, [Biden] made the case against his opponent Donald Trump. The former president has been embroiled in a series of legal woes. In separate cases, he has been convicted in New York on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, found liable for defrauding the state of New York, found liable for sexually assaulting writer E. Jean Carroll, and found liable for defaming her….
The crowd chanted, “Lock him up!”
Well, yes. For starters anyway.
But Biden wasn’t through whipping up the crowd. Again, this was yesterday.
“He was convicted by a jury of his peers of 34 felonies for paying hush money to a porn star and hiding it from voters in 2016,” he continued. “Donald Trump was found liable for sexual assault by a judge, who told us not to be fooled by Trump brushing it off. Here’s what the judge wrote. Quote, the judge in that case wrote, quote, ‘Mr. Trump attempted to minimize sexual abuse, finding it frivolous. Mr. Trump raped her.’ That’s the judge’s language, not mine. Raped her, as many people understand the word rape.”
Biden forgot to mention that the jury did not reach that conclusion.
It should be noted that it was a Manhattan jury – not a judge – that found Trump civilly liable for sexually assaulting Carroll. The jury declined to find Trump liable for rape.
If I took the time, I could find dozens of examples of Leftist and Democratic attacks on Trump far more vicious than this. In coming days, I might give it a try. Readers are invited to chime is as well.
Virtually everyone acknowledges that Trump is ahead in the polls and has been for quite a while. Understanding this, his enemies have used means quite different from the democratic ones they claim to revere to get him out of the picture. The most prominent ones, until today, were (1) a proposal this winter and spring to keep him off the ballot (laughed out of court by a unanimous SCOTUS); and (2) putting him on trial and then, they hope, in jail, in efforts launched by politically skewed prosecutors, hatched (in most of the cases) from bizarre legal theories, and brought in deep blue districts where the chances of finding a neutral jury are about the same as the chances the Left will take even a smidgen of responsibility for the outcroppings of what they’ve spent months spitting about.
Is their hate directly responsible for what happened today? We don’t know yet. Maybe yes, maybe no. What we do know is that their claimed commitment to democratic means to select the next President is, and for months if not years has been, a complete crock.
Thank you for posting this sober analysis so quickly after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Excuse me for being so presumptuous; CNN is still calling this an "incident" on air.
You actually created some real news value by quoting Biden's "bullseye" remark; as I write this, that story is impossible to find on Google. Try typing the query "biden says put bullseye Trump" on Google's so-called search engine: down the memory hole it goes!
I don't believe this has anything to do with the coarsening of our civil dialogue, and certainly not Trump calling people jerks and losers. That's been happening for sure, but we have a situation where two factions have irreconcilable differences about the constitution (little "c") of this nation They are as irreconcilable as they were in 1860. It's not surprising that blood is spilled.
Ask the store owners who watched their buildings burn during the summer of 2020 by "mostly peaceful protesters."
Our civil society has been decaying for many years. Perhaps 9/11 will be the marker, perhaps 1968, perhaps 1963.
Trump has been beset by internal sabotage by his own DoJ and FBI, two BS impeachments, four federal indictments, two state cvil and criminal indictments, and now an assassination attempt, and bloodied and shaken he pumps his fist in the air and shouts, "Fight! Fight!" That is the silver lining today: we can and will fight.
If someone is “literally” Hitler, will bring about the death democracy, his election will be the last election, and he is a “dictator,” then it is a legitimate act in the mind of a true believer to assassinate him.
Crooks is presumably solely responsible, but the Dems/media sure laid out the logic for him.
