D.C. liberals push to remove soft-on-crime city council member

Irving Kristol once said: “A neoconservative is a liberal who's been mugged by reality. A neoliberal is a liberal who's been mugged by reality but has refused to press charges.” Here in Washington D.C., a group of liberals who have been mugged by reality is pressing charges.

The group is pushing to recall a city council member. Its campaign is focused solely on the issue of crime, and for good reason. Like most of D.C., the jurisdiction represented by the council member in question, Ward 6, has experienced an alarming spike in crime. The prevalence of carjacking, not mugging, is the biggest cause of alarm.
