“Trump derangement syndrome” was real. Claims that the former president was a Russian agent were the best example, but even the contention, without sound basis, that he colluded with the Russians can be viewed as a manifestation.
Now, however, it’s fair to ask whether Trump has become deranged in the same figurative sense in which we spoke of Trump derangement syndrome. The hole the former president dug for himself when he refused to return documents he took from the White House suggests a sense of reality that’s far from robust.
And now, Trump has issued a digital superhero trading card of himself. “Very much like a baseball card,” he says, “but hopefully much more exciting.”
I’ll stick with my 1958 Mickey Mantle card, thank you.
I’d like to think that Trump is just having a laugh, and maybe he is. But he isn’t having a laugh when he claims he won a landslide victory in 2020. I suspect his superhero card is coming from the same psychological place.
I agree with Ed Morrissey. Given Trump’s plummeting approval numbers and the growing gap between his numbers and Ron DeSantis’, “it looks more like Trump needs a superhero rather than has his own superpowers.” Ed adds: “If twelve-year-olds had the vote, this might get them interested.”
It’s possible, though, that Trump’s superhero card will become a collector’s item. Alongside “Harold Stassen for president” buttons. Or maybe those rare “Millard Fillmore in ‘56” ones.
You were always a #neverTrumper. And DeSantis has always been an establishment shill. The establishment hates Trump because he puts America first.
I now have TDS bc Trump's ego is perplexing and actually disturbing.
I'm saddened that he and kanYE have clearly gone off the rails.
