Kamala Harris reaches out to men
This is not satire, although it would win an award if it were.
I was an appellate lawyer for the Justice Department for most of my career, and learned a lesson here and there over the years. One of the most valuable was to button it when your opponent is burying himself or herself. In about a quarter of my cases, my opponent’s opening argument was so self-destructive that, when it came my turn to speak, the smart move was to tell the judges that, unless they had questions, the United States would rest on its brief.
I don’t think I ever got a question, or lost a case, doing that. My guess is that I also gained some goodwill with the court by showing that, every now and again, a lawyer would appear who knew how to shut up.
That letting the other side talk its way into the ground might be Trump’s best strategy is the message from a Kamala Harris ad I saw today. [UPDATE: I now understand that the ad was not put out by the Harris campaign per se but by an allied group working with her]. The ad is designed, I guess, to show that the Vice President understands and values men — this against the backdrop of polling that Trump is winning the male vote (while losing women).
The ad is a minute and a half, and is worth your time if you want to know how thoroughly Ms. Harris does not understand men — either that or affirmatively detests them as idiots, wahoos and weirdos. It’s as if the ad were scripted by someone who never actually met a man and “learned” about them only by reading a bunch of feminist screeds, see e.g. the ones discussed in this post by Matt Taibbi.
Here’s the Harris ad:
I’ve thought for some time that the winner of November’s election will be the one who lets the other side have the airwaves. This piece does nothing to persuade me otherwise.
Which candidate is the Marlboro man endorsing for president this year?
One point of correction. I seriously doubt Harris had anything to do with this or with anything. She strikes me as literally a female Chauncey Gardner. This ar was put together by an ad agency hired by her campaign. In other words people who are payed to make ads made this and it was approved by people who are paid to run campaigns. It is a total indictment of much of the Democratic party that they think a single man will decide to vote for her based on this nauseating drivel. To the contrary its like to drive men (and women) away in its insipidness. But these are the people who thought they could win over blue collar mid Western voters by choosing the most extreme leftist governor in America just because he is a little slovenly looking and comes from Minnesota. If Trump weren't the Republican candidate we would be looking at the greatest debacle since Dukakis. I truly believe that.
