Kamala Harris to White Ian Victims: Go Drown, We're Sending the Boats to BLM
Racial preferences reach the Twilight Zone
We’ve all become accustomed to the pearl-clutching admonitions of the Left that Republicans should refrain from politicizing X. X can be COVID, the Olympics, theatrical performances, or — and especially — disaster relief.*
Florida and other parts of the South are today receiving organized relief from the effects of Hurricane Ian, which has caused a huge amount of damage and taken dozens of lives. Many people needed rescuing yesterday and some remain in need of it today. I have no clue of the racial breakdown of those in need, as I suspect no one does, nor of course would it make a difference to anyone with even remotely normal morals.
Enter Joe Biden’s hand-picked Vice President, Kamala Harris.
National Review reports:
Harris said Friday that those in lower-income communities and people of color are “most impacted by these extreme conditions.”
How does she know that? She didn’t say. I have my doubts that the hurricane checked the zip code maps before “deciding” where it would hit hardest. For what it’s worth, oceanfront properties, which took the brunt of the flooding, tend overwhelmingly to be owned by the well off. My broader family for years owned an oceanfront cottage on Pawleys Island, SC, and presently I’m trying to find out if it’s still there. The Pawleys Pier just to the north got partially washed out to sea.
Speaking during the Democratic National Committee’s Women’s Leadership Forum, she said: “We have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity . . . sometimes we have to take into account those disparities.”
“Equity,” as Ringside readers know, is the Democrats’ word for shoveling out taxpayer money, and plenty of other goodies like government contracts and admission to fancy schools, to blacks, blacks being one of the most reliable Democratic voting blocs.
Racial preferences are poisonous enough when roiling the ordinary contours of public policy, a subject Paul and I have repeatedly addressed. They are incomparably worse, indeed they’re grotesque, when applied, as the Vice President breezily suggests, in deciding which 70 year-old gets the rescue boat sent out and which gets to see if she can make it to high ground on her own.
But you have to give Ms. Harris credit for one thing: Even if only inadvertently, she’s being honest. She pulls back the curtain on the final destination of Woke’s racial balkanization. This is their vision for America — not just race consciousness, and not even just race obsession, but race as the fulcrum in deciding who sinks and who swims.

*I trust that readers will recall that Democrats entirely refrained from politicizing Hurricane Katrina………..I mean, they did refrain?………….hello…………..
