Sometimes a parade is just a parade
Yesterday's might have been a bit more, but it wasn't monarchical or fascistic
Yesterday’s parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary prompted another freakout by the left. Around the country, leftist and liberals attended “No Kings” protests. And a group of academics from around the world used the occasion to issue an “anti-fascist” manifesto with Trump their main target.
But military parades are not indicia of monarchy or fascism. France holds such a parade every year on Bastille Day. It has not had a king or emperor since 1870 (Napoleon III) and its only serious flirtation with fascism occurred under German occupation during World War II.
