Yesterday’s parade celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary prompted another freakout by the left. Around the country, leftist and liberals attended “No Kings” protests. And a group of academics from around the world used the occasion to issue an “anti-fascist” manifesto with Trump their main target.

But military parades are not indicia of monarchy or fascism. France holds such a parade every year on Bastille Day. It has not had a king or emperor since 1870 (Napoleon III) and its only serious flirtation with fascism occurred under German occupation during World War II.
