Bill and I have been here at Ringside for ten months now. We're delighted by the number of people who have chosen to subscribe, and grateful to all of you. We hope you find our writing worthwhile.
At present, all of our content is available to all of our subscribers regardless of whether they pay. All subscribers can also comment on every post.
We will continue this policy for now, but by the end of our first year, we'll limit some of our content and commenting rights to paid subscribers. This seems only fair to the many you who support our work through a paid subscription.
If you like what we're doing here at Ringside, please consider becoming a paid subscriber. You can do so by paying $6 per month or $60 for a full year.
I read a hint from another Substack author who took the unusual tack of keeping new-ish posts free and charging for access to older, archived posts. To his surprise it worked very well for him; new folks came in for the new free posts, decided they liked the guys work and signed up to read the old stuff.
Not sure how it would work for very topical posts but a lot of your stuff has enduring value.
If I pay the $60, am I able to post the Ringside column in our small private Facebook Group in a way that allows the others to read whole articles - analogous to the practice of a family sharing a subscription to a newspaper or magazine - or will all the members of our small Facebook Group still have to each pay $60 in order to read Ringside.?
