Thanks for the comments. I might be guilty of a Freudian typo, Tom.

Stanford may have a financial interest in its admissions standards, Jim. For example, it could face a lawsuit similar to one brought against Harvard, and that lawsuit might result in an award of money damages.

True, but I question whether the safe harbor extends that far out to sea, particularly since the power to pursue a race-based admissions policy is probably dearer to Stanford than money.

Seems to me the clearance reg doesn't apply since the decision in this case would affect Stanford's' admission standards, not its financial interest.

I suppose that "animus brief" is a typo, but it's a great, English-improving typo. Courts are overrun with animus briefs from lawyers who would rather be think tankers, except that the pay isn't as good.

Speaking of ethics problems shouldn’t Paul and Nancy Pelosi be in prison for insider trading? And are they ever going to find any criminal activity that can stick to Trump? Based on what they’ve been trying to do, either his enemies are the most incompetent lawyers in history, or he’s the cleanest billionaire real estate developer and TV personality in history. I guess it can be both.
