Reading about Kaitlin Clark in a straight-up comparison to Bill Walton and Bill Bradley leads me to think, wow, she's incredible, she should try out for the NBA.

All I know about Kaitlin Clark is what I watched on a highlight reel from the semifinal. She does indeed have remarkable shooting skills. Comparing it to the legendary performances of Walton seems a bit of a stretch, however.

I couldn’t care less, personally. Time only allows for a finite number of sporting interests, and women’s college basketball doesn’t come close to making the cut, so to speak.

What does draw my interest is the shameless manner in which the woke sports media promotes women’s basketball, both collegiate and professional, as though it’s equal, or even superior, to the men’s game in interest and relevance. While I don’t believe it’s accurate to state that “nobody gives a F-F” about women’s basketball, the interest is surely infinitesimal, its relevance even smaller.

What will arouse my interest is the point when biological males petition to be allowed to participate in women’s collegiate and professional basketball. That will really be popcorn worthy.

I think what it comes down to is that the female version of sports that are made better for spectators because of the strength and speed of the athletes (hockey and football being the best but not only examples) tend to be much less appealing, weak tea, to most viewers. I'm not interested in watching men's synchronized swimming, and, for that matter, women's tennis is a pretty good spectator sport for the reasons above. Yes, looking forward to the bio male invasion of women's basketball AS WELL AS THE LPGA (more accurately, looking forward to those who refuse to stand up for the integrity of women's sports now stew in their own juices when that time comes).

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Although to be truthful I do like to watch women’s soccer, mainly the international tournaments, and not just because they tend to be the most attractive female athletes.... 😉

I only have vague memories of watching the UCLA-Memphis State final. My most distinct memory is of Walton dropping the ball through the hoop, seemingly on every possession, because at that time dunking was banned in college basketball.

Walton was unstoppable and carried over his brilliance into the NBA, schooling Kareem Abdul Jabar (“Walton Out-duels Abdul” was the clever SI cover story title, as I recall) to lead Portland to their only NBA title in 1977.

Lower body injuries, especially to his feet, ended Walton’s dominance, though he managed to continue a productive career, winning the 6th man award and another title with the Celtics in the 80s.

There was speculation that Walton’s foot injuries were the result of a vegetarian diet. I’ve no idea, though it can’t have helped.

Bill Walton is an F-ing douche bag and an idiot and I wish he would have never been a part of commentary on NCAA games. And nobody gives a flying F**K about womens basketball. But whatever. Go SDSU!
