And maybe also we should drop the "elite" phrasing. I've been to school board meetings; the members did not strike me as particularly elite. Most public school teachers seem less than elite. College administrators seem distinctly sub-elite. Most journalists took degrees designed for the slow children. The country should be governed by people with an unusually good grasp of what needs to be done, which would make them, you know, elite

It was the reaction to Trump that fueled the Great Awokening, which made DEI, ESG, anti-racism, trans madness and all the other crap mandatory in so much of the corporate, media and education establishment. Without Trump it would never have happened. Give me DeSantis or Youngkin, who can undo some of the damage.

Ahh...yes, Hanania. I read that piece when he first posted it and thought to myself: Well Richard, you have a very different memory of 2000 and 2010 than me; assuming that you are old enough to remember. Republicans were pretty angry after 8 years of the circus Clinton. 2010? How about Obamacare and the Tea Party uprising. Anger was very much a part of both elections on the Republican side. After reading it, I wondered whether he supports the actions taken by DeSantis in Florida that are being praised here or the actions of the parents in northern Virginia that Youngkin rode to the governorship. Would the actions of those angry parents in Virginia and Florida be the expression of anger by "losers" as Hanania has described it? He dances around that and never addresses it. In 2016, Trump rode an anger as much directed at the GOP establishment as against Democrats and the left more generally. One man's angry warrior is an another man's hard-ass.

So what is DeSantis to the Hanania's of the commentariat? He's certainly not Trump in either demeanor or action. He is politically successful undeniably, as even Hanania would have to admit. Yet many of his highest profile actions crystalize a _negative_ response to wokeness not at all about "national greatness", the "Enlightenment Project", much less "getting to Mars." (Who is he talking about anyway, Elon Musk?!) DeSantis is wildly successful and Youngkin is successful in a much bluer Virginia. Like Trump before them, both rode to office at least in part on the righteous anger of their constituents. In DeSantis's case not only to woke but also to the autocratic response to Covid by the federal government and all-too-many Democrat dominated polities around the country. IF there are any firm opinions about practical politics in response to woke in that piece by Hanania, they seem to run counter to the political judgements of at least two successful Republican governors; one of which is the principal challenger to Trump and an early favorite in a contest against Biden. I would not recommend Hanania as a fount of political wisdom. And I don't think that DeSantis needs advice from the Hanania's of the commentariat on the utility of positive messaging.

Some good points, but not persuasive points. The country is in fact angry and will only get more angry as inflation continues to tick up in the real world (not the world painted by the lying Government Agencies controlled by liberals). Real wages are declining and as consumers, who drive the economy, pull back many small and mid sized businesses will be closing their doors or severely cutting back causing increased layoffs etc.-the snowball effect. Desantis has no business experience or dealing with other countries, His whole time in Congress was spent as a "go fetch it" boy for Paul Ryan and the rest of the Rinos- God help us! Quite frankly I think even Trump would have a hard time getting anything done in the corruption capital of the world but I would rather go down in a fiery rage than with a whimper. Thus I will vote again, for a third time, for DJT and all you DC Republicans can with emphasis.

The DeSantis platform will be freedom. Freedom from big government intrusion into our personal lives. Freedom from insane woke ideology. Freedom of conscience and freedom of speech.
