The communist relents only under one condition: pain. If there was no consequence and they didn’t expel these lunatics, it would be open season for others to foment statehouse mob violence. The Revolution will not be allowed to go forward without resistance. You may not be interested in the Revolution. But the Revolution is interested in you, comrade. Obama’s America!

Totally agree. If they hadn't been expelled, their action would still have drawn coverage and sympathy from the Biden admin (it already had) - and the GOP would simply look lame to their own supporters. There comes a time when you just have to be willing to fight, take the heat, and impose your will.

We are in a fight, not a publicity contest.

One of the reasons for supporting a political party is to protect yourself from the depredations of the opposing party. The GOP in TN stood up for their voters who are sick of being bullied by the woke mob.

Doing the right thing (expulsion) is always wise.

Great post. I think the expulsions were wise. The two expelled legislators not only held the chamber hostage; they egged on a peaceful but riotous mob in the galleries. More importantly, I think it's time for the adults in the big room we call America to lay down some markers. Markers against woke culture and cancel culture. Against open borders and disastrous Afghan bugouts. Against an administration that turns a bright and decent man like John Kirby into a shill who defends the indefensible and, like his boss, lies though his teeth. Against an administration and movement that life- alters children too young to make informed choices, demands that boys can compete against girls and disrobe in a gender-neutral locker rooms, and insists on silencing all opposition. I could go on, but this is a post, not an essay.

The question now is this. It seems likely that at least one of the expellees will be sent back as the interim Representative, as it is up to the local govt to select an interim. Both expellees have said they will run in the special election in the fall. Question is: can the GOP come up with a candidate to beat the expellees in the special election. Ballot pedia indicates that Jones ran unopposed in '22 winning all the votes. "

Justin Pearson's case is almost as bad. He was elected in a special election with 97+% of the vote:

Keeping them out looks to be a tall order.

One accomplishment of this episode has been to expose the craven, bottomless hypocrisy of the Biden administration and its various apologists, some of whom were going so far as to ask for the Republican party to be deemed a terrorist organization, and were working to bar funding to the RNC, in the wake of January 6. All of the selfsame people worked hard to try to deny McCarthy the Speakership on the grounds that he used parliamentary procedures to challenge the election results in that Joint Session, and they similarly attempted to remove multiple House Representatives from the chamber on paper-thin interpretations of the 14th amendment. The fact that some of the rioters in Tennessee who accompanied the foul-mouthed errant legislators, were actually wearing horns, adds to the irony and the abject hypocrisy of their defenders. Who are oddly, incapable of noticing.

The democrats seized the events of Jan. 6 and made it their Reichstag Fire.

The Reichstag fire wasn't set by Communists but by a hippie. The January 6th attack was egged on by Trump himself.
