Given the furious backlash this article is generating online, the issue certainly has been highlighted. You have to wonder what the thinking was at the Atlantic to publish it and to remind everyone a week before the midterms of the tyrannical and hysterical response by government, media and too many medical and scientific professionals. Let’s all forgive and forget? Really?

I agree. You cannot tell people that they “want people to die” and have “blood on your hands,” and expect them to forgive and forget. Not to mention the hypocrisy of the likes of Gavin Newsome and the duly elected “President of the Universe,” Stacey Abrams.

The silver lining to all of this is that the electorate will remember this for a long time and be less likely to blindly trust the political and bureaucratic classes.

Maybe the GOP thinks it would be a net negative and open themselves up to charges of "not caring about Grandma" or whatever.

All that being said, someone in my town has gone around and printed some (likely illegal) signs that keep getting placed next to our democrats County Executive's reelection signs to remind people how he supported masks and school closures and all of that stuff. They aren't ever up very long before they are violently torn down and stolen, so I suspect that local democrats are worried that it's a loser issue for them and don't want to remind voters of the travesty of 2020.

It used to be that one would either vote for whatever candidate of their beloved party or who they thought was the “best choice”. As we’ve come to realize the vast majority of politicians are only in it to get rich, usually by screwing over the citizens. I now vote based on whom I think is going to screw me over less. Never has it been a Democrat…
