If lawyers could analyze statutes the way Paul analyzes pitching, it would be a different profession.

My understanding is that Cobb does not deserve his bad reputation and that it is basically a slander.

Ruining someone's name is very easy. So is calling them a "racist." Take the case of Ty Cobb, one of the greatest baseball players ever. Cobb is known as a racist and a dirty ballplayer. Is it true? Charles Leerhsen, author of "Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty" sets the record straight.

Thanks for the comment, Steve. I watched the video and read some reviews of the Leerhsen book. Some of them agree with his conclusion that claims of Cobb's alleged racism and dirty play are false; others dispute them and cite some evidence to the contrary.

I will read the book and see what I think.

In any case, you have provided a service to this blog by noting the views of Mr. Leerhsen and posting the video of him expressing them.

Thing is he had his flaws, BUT (it Appears) He Wasn't A Racist and he was respected by other players.

A compelling, unanswerable analysis. It raises two other related but different questions. Are the pre-merger AFL players merged with NFL players to determine NFL statistics and records? If so, should they be? Jim Dueholm
