I agree 100%. Antisemitism is the answer to “why?” I have made the same argument as Paul Mirengoff for a year or more. Name a war where the attacked combatant (Israel in our case) is obligated to feed their enemy, provide them with electricity, but not entitled to have the Red Cross visit hostages held by that enemy, not entitled to have Israeli civilians excluded from the war, but must protect the enemy’s civilians under all circumstances. Utterly ridiculous. Hopefully Israel won’t listen to too much of this and will prosecute the war to victory.
Israel certainly isn't listening to it. But as we saw during the reign of the Biden Bunch, an adversarial American administration can wreak havoc on its ability to prosecute and win this war. Europe not so much.
This is a well reasoned analysis, and sadly I agree with your unavoidable conclusion based upon the historical facts cited. Most western countries have expressed great sympathy to the plight of the Jews in recent history, but when Jews fight back, especially behind the strength of the Jewish state, Israel, somehow the very act of fighting back seems to dull such sympathies. Israel is expected to just take it despite being continually attacked and periodically invaded. Israel is only "permitted" a small, limited response and even then may not escape criticism. No other Western nation is restrained in such a manner. This is unique in modern warfare. Seeing this as a double standard doesn't quite capture it. There is something else underneath the surface, and it's ancient, persistent, and it's very ugly. It has captured most of the political left, and it has at least a toehold on a small but growing isolationist right. Unfortunately, some of the latter have Trump's ear for the time being.
"Trump would like to end the war in Gaza. So would Israel. But Trump appears to view almost any settlement as a win.
For him personally, it might be. But for Israel, as for almost every combatant nation, kingdom, and tribe in history, a win means the surrender, the complete destruction, or the full disbandment of the enemy."
How do wars End? One side surrenders (Stops Fighting). Here we see The Problem with the Israel Arab wars. Neither side has been Allowed To Win. So here we are 77 years later. (ok ok Simplistic I'm giving you that..But)
If there is one thing that really ticks me off about this (and war in general) is people who know nothing, or at best Very Little about war spouting off about Gaza! Jesus H Christ Read A Book, Learn Something about how wars are fought, Before you shoot you mouth off.
During WWII we not only didn't help civilians in enemy countries; we intentionally targeted civilians. The nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the most obvious examples, but we also fire bombed Tokyo and Dresden. Jim Dueholm

Israel is sending aid again. That is due to pressure from the US and Europe.
Agree completely. The double standard has always vexed me. Time to call it out for what it is

That’s the scale of death and hostages abducted if the attack were on the US. Would our leaders be looking for a deal?
Imagine 45,000 Americans killed in San Diego by a Islamic group and 6000 taken captive back to Mexico
"And unlike Russia, Israel did not start this war. Hamas started it with an unspeakable massacre of Israeli (and other) civilians."
Ever Notice This is Rarely mentioned in The Media?
