I just hope there’s something here that I’m missing. Something unstated, but understood that makes such a deal palatable to Israel. If not, this is an unexpected triumph for the remnants of Hamas and as you state, a terrible message all but guaranteeing more terrorism and hostage taking.

It is definitely concerning but I find it difficult to believe that after all he has done to thwart the demands of the Biden Bunch Bibi is simply capitulating to pressure from Trump this easily and before he even takes office. I suspect there is more going on here than meets the eye. At least I hope so. Note that my hopes are not based on faith in Trump but on a logical reading of Netanyahu's mindset.

Completely agree with you Paul Mirengoff. This is a terrible deal and I think it makes Trump look not like the author of Art of the Deal but instead author of Deal Me Out. Nothing about this sounds even remotely close to reasonable or fair given the facts on the ground. A better deal would be no hostages and obliterate Gaza. That will send a strong message to Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Qatar and all the other cesspools in the region.

The only way forward is for Hamas to be obliterated.
